Meeting on Mon., June 23, the Boardman Board of Education unanimously approved resolutions to proceed with placing two tax levy renewals on the November 4 general election ballot.
One issue is a the renewal of an existing 6.0-mill tax levy for the purpose of providing for the current expenses for a period of five years, that if approved, would be first collected in calendar year 2027.
“The property tax revenue that will be produced by the 6.0 mills, assuming the taxable value of the School District remains constant throughout the life of the levy, is calculated to be $3.583 million...which amounts to $86 for each $100,000 of the County Auditor’s appraised value,” said the resolution approved by the school board.
Also on the ballot will be renewal of a 5.9 mill tax levy for the purpose of providing for the current expenses, for a continuing period of time which, if approved, would be first collected in calendar year 2027.
“The property tax revenue that will be produced by the 5.9 mills, assuming the taxable value of the School District remains constant throughout the life of the levy, is calculated to be $4.239 million...that amounts to $102 for each $100,000 of the County Auditor’s appraised value,” the resolution on the matter says.
Annual appropriations of the Boardman Local School District are more than $60 million. |
