Animal Charity of Ohio, located on Southern Blvd. in Boardman, has launched One Million Acts of Hope, a community campaign designed to unite individuals, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and animal lovers through one simple idea---When enough people choose compassion, extraordinary things happen.
The campaign encourages people to make an ‘Act of Hope’ by donating, volunteering, fostering, adopting, sponsoring, advocating, or simply sharing the campaign with others. While supporters are invited to begin with a donation of funding, the campaign is about far more than fundraising. Its purpose is to create a movement where every person has the opportunity to make a difference, regardless of the size of their contribution.
Every day, Animal Charity of Ohio responds to calls each day that change lives.
Some involve animals living in dangerous or neglectful conditions. Others come from families struggling to afford pet food or veterinary care. Some involve seniors facing unexpected medical emergencies who need temporary care for a beloved companion. Others come from veterans experiencing hardship who need help keeping the animals that have stood beside them through life’s most difficult moments.
Each call is different, but they all begin the same way - with someone asking for help.
As the Humane Agency for Mahoning County, Animal Charity of Ohio provides services that extend far beyond shelter and adoption. The organization investigates reports of animal cruelty and neglect, operates a low-cost veterinary clinic, provides emergency and preventative medical care, distributes pet food and essential supplies through its Community Pet Pantry, assists seniors through Charlie’s W.I.S.H., supports veterans through Vets with Pets and provides humane education throughout Mahoning County.

These programs work together to protect animals while helping families keep the pets they love whenever possible.
Animal Charity of Ohio does not receive any local or state operating funding to provide their programs and making donations, partnerships, and community involvement essential to sustaining its mission.
Throughout the One Million Acts of Hope campaign, Animal Charity of Ohio will share stories from every part of its organization, from humane investigations and lifesaving veterinary care to adoptions, community outreach, and the people whose lives have been changed hrough compassion.
The campaign will also celebrate milestones throughout the year as the community works together toward one million individual Acts of Hope.
Community members are encouraged to visit the campaign page, make their first Act of Hope, and invite others to join the movement.
