The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) released its report cards for public school districts last week, showing that the Boardman Local School System received an overall rating of 3.5 stars on a 5-star scale.
      The report card uses the following categories to determine the school district’s rating:
       •Achievement on state tests: 4 stars (exceeds state standards) includes notation that 266 students in high school took an English language test that showed a proficiency rating of 74.4 per cent
       •Progress: 2 stars (Significant evidence that the district fell short of student growth expectations).
       •Gap Closing: 4 stars (Gap closing component is a measure of the reduction in educational gaps for student groups.)
       •Graduation: 5 stars (Graduation component is a measure of the percentage of students that graduate. 97.7 per cent of 329 high school senior students graduated in 2025)
       •Early Literacy: 3 stars (A measure of reading improvement and proficiency for students in kindergarten through third grade. The district meets state standards in early literacy K-3.)
       •Career workforce and military readiness: 3 stars
      Spending per pupil in the Boardman Local School District $13,157 (state average is $13.065).
      The Boardman Local School District reported enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year at 3,403 students and a four year graduation rate at 97.5 per cent.
      Enrollment figures includes 586 students with disabilities and 1,785 students or 52 per cent considered economically disadvantaged.
      The average annual teacher’s salary in the Boardman Local School District is $73,917 according to the Ohio Department of Education.

      In Ohio’s Traditional School District Report Cards, a 3.5‑star rating means the school district meets state standards in its overall performance, but is not at the top tier of excellence. Charter schools, that rake-in millions of dollars in state funding do not receive the same scrutiny as public schools.
      Note: For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Ohio Department of Education gave the Boardman Local School District a 3.5 star rating
